PREPARING SOUTH AFRICA FOR THE WORLD |
The UEFA Champions League is watched by over 140 million TV viewers across 230 countries each week making it a truly global phenomenon. Heineken®, the sponsor of the biggest club football competition in the world, this week will bring the UEFA Champions League Trophy to South Africa for the first time. Project 2010 spoke to Franco Maria Maggi, Heineken® Marketing Manager for South Africa...  Where else has the trophy been in the world and how was it received with fans? The trophy has been in the past two years to Asia and South America. Last season alone, it was viewed by over 50 000 viewers. The African leg of the UEFA Trophy Tour 2009 kicked off in a big way in Nigeria and has had two very successful runs, one in Algeria and one in Egypt. There's major interest in the UEFA Champions League in South Africa …. you must be confident that there will be a great deal of interest in the display in Cape Town and Johannesburg. What else will you be offering visitors? A once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with the UEFA Champions League Trophy and to get your picture taken with it!
