A report that Safa technical committee chairman Sturu Pasiya held face-to-face talks with Portugal and former Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari on the issue of Bafana Bafana coach for the 2010 WC has been described as pie in the sky by former Moroka Swallows coach and Wits University assistant coach Zeca Marques. According to a report on the Sunday Times site, "Marques said the consensus in Portugal was that the controversial, head-strong Scolari would continue in his present position unless something goes horribly wrong at the World Cup."

Safa CE Raymond Hack dismissed a hate campaign to discredit him as mischievous and deceitful - and said there was no substance to reports that there had been a petition by staff calling for his dismissal. According to a report on the News24 site, "Hack said he had discussed the campaign with Safa President Molefi Oliphant and Vice-President Irvin Khoza, and both had given him full support and advised him to ignore what was clearly a personal vendetta."

Top Zimbabwe and Africa match official Felix Tangawarima is convinced that Safa are keen to help Zifa reap rewards from that countrys hosting of the 2010 WC finals. According to an allAfrica.com report, "Tangawarima said that he had talked to Safa officials with regards 2010, trying to establish how best we can benefit from their hosting of the tournament. He says they are saying Zimbabwe can host some of the countries coming to SA and make arrangements to even have those teams fly in and out of that country for their matches."
