International alcohol giant Diageo and Dutch brewer Heineken plan to strengthen their ties in South Africa ahead of the 2010 World Cup. The two companies will tackle local heavyweight SABMiller by building a brewery in Gauteng by the end of 2009. The new brewery which will be 75% owned by Heineken and 25% by Diageo will produce Amstel, Guinness and Windhoek beers and alco-pops like Smirnoff Ice. Photo: Project 2010
