With five months to go before the 2009 Confederations Cup kicks off, renovations at Ellis Park, the host stadium of the opening and final matches of the football tournament, are complete.
   
 
 
   
The construction of the Nelson Mandela Bay 2010 stadium reached a significant milestone as the last of the 36 roof truss girders was fitted into place.
   
 
   
This image shows the moment the enormous arch which towers over Durbans Moses Mabhida Stadium was connected. When completed, spectators able to get to the top of the arch by cable-car from one side or by ascending hundreds of steps from the other for a spectacular view of the 2010 World Cup semi-final venue below.

Despite some heavy fog, the complex procedure of raising the inner ring of the roof of Cape Towns 2010 World Cup stadium has been completed.
